Myofascial Release (MFR)

Myofascial Release, often called MFR, is a hands-on therapy that targets the fascia—the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles, bones, and organs. When fascia becomes tight or restricted, it can create pain, stiffness, and limit your range of motion. MFR works to gently release these restrictions, helping the body move more freely and comfortably.

Unlike traditional massage that focuses primarily on muscles, MFR focuses on the fascia and how it affects movement and posture. Tight fascia can pull on muscles, joints, and even nerves, leading to pain in areas far from the source of the tension.

Common benefits and indications for Myofascial Release include:

  • Relief from chronic muscle pain or stiffness

  • Improved range of motion and flexibility

  • Reduction in headaches or tension-related discomfort

  • Support for recovery after injuries or surgery

  • Enhanced posture and overall movement patterns

Fascia can become restricted from overuse, injury, poor posture, stress, or even scar tissue from surgery. MFR is a gentle, non-invasive technique that involves applying sustained pressure and guided stretching to affected areas. This helps the fascia “release,” allowing muscles and joints to move more naturally.

A chiropractic or therapeutic approach often combines MFR with adjustments, exercise, and postural guidance to support lasting improvements. By addressing both the fascia and the musculoskeletal system, MFR can help reduce pain, improve function, and restore a sense of ease in the body.
