Sciatica

If you’ve ever had a sharp, shooting pain that travels from your lower back down into your leg, there’s a good chance you’ve experienced sciatica.

The sciatic nerve is the longest nerve in your body. It starts in your lower spine and runs down through your hips, buttocks, and all the way down the back of each leg. When something irritates or compresses that nerve—like a herniated disc, tight muscles, or even inflammation—you feel it. And it’s not subtle.

Sciatica can show up in a few different ways:

  • A burning or stabbing sensation in one leg
  • Numbness or tingling in your foot or calf
  • Pain that gets worse when you sit or stand for too long

What makes sciatica tricky is that it often isn’t caused by just one thing. It can be the result of years of poor posture, old injuries, or even daily habits like driving or sitting at a desk.

Chiropractic care can be really effective in managing sciatica because we look at the whole picture. We don’t just chase the pain—we look at the alignment of your spine, how your muscles are working, and whether there’s any imbalance in how you move. With gentle adjustments and targeted therapies, we can help reduce the pressure on the sciatic nerve, calm inflammation, and get you moving again without that intense discomfort.
