It looks like we got hit with some decent snow this early in the season. If you live in the region and don’t have health complications that prevented you from doing your part to shovel out, then you spent some time, or maybe most of the day digging out. After all the clean up, you may be screaming, “Oh my aching back!”.
You may feel the need to do something about the pain. You may find your mood to have been compromised and perhaps those around you may be avoiding you because of your growling and barking from your foul mood. It is common that if you are in pain, your mood may suffer. There are some options to consider in managing the pain so you can return to your smiling personality.
While all of these may be effective in managing the muscle soreness, pain-relieving meds often have adverse effects on one’s health. According to WebMD, NSAIDS can cause Gastrointestinal bleeding, whereas prescribed meds like Celebrex, Vioxx, and Bextra, which are Cox-2 inhibitors, have more serious side effects resulting in heart attacks in some. Other side effects are high blood pressure and kidney damage.
A warm bath and a massage may help reduce muscle pain. However, if your pain persists or recurs, it may have a deeper connection – your spine and nervous system.
THE CHIROPRACTIC APPROACH
If you are suffering from persistent muscle spasms, sharp and/or shooting, burning, or dull/achy pain, you just might have a spine issue relating to what is referred to as faulty spinal bio-mechanics or vertebral subluxation. This problem is one Dr. Jeff Snyder can handle for you at Snyder Family Chiropractic. The methods of training have been proven time and again to manage the underlying causes of spinal-related health issues. Chiropractic care at Snyder Family Chiropractic has a high patient satisfaction rating, as noted by our Google Reviews.
A study in the May 2009 issue of Consumer Reports found that hands-on therapies were the most effective treatments for back pain. The study, which surveyed more than 14,000 consumers, was conducted by the Consumer Reports Health Ratings Center. According to the report, the survey respondents tried a variety of treatments and rated them on how helpful and satisfied they were with the results. The report concluded that hands-on therapies were the most highly rated. The report states that, “eighty-eight percent of those who tried chiropractic adjustments said it helped a lot, and 59 percent were ‘completely’ or ‘very satisfied with their chiropractor.”
At Snyder Family Chiropractic, we aim to help you find the resources you need for your health. If we can help you, we’ll let you know. If Dr. Snyder believes your health issue is outside the scope of chiropractic practice, he will let you know and help you find the proper referral.
Of course, if you need a chiropractor and are not in our region, we will be happy to help and refer you to a chiropractor near you.
